Rockford Art Museum proudly presents its 77th Rockford Midwestern Biennial, a juried survey of recent contemporary art in the Midwest. The 2022 Rockford Midwestern will be on view October 7, 2022–January 22, 2023 at Rockford Art Museum, at 711 North Main Street, Rockford, Illinois. Entries & payment must be submitted online no later than June 12, notifications will be sent August 1, 2022.

One juror is selected for each Rockford Midwestern; they are not employed by the museum. Jurying will be based on the digital images artists submit. Please note: Your images must represent the actual artwork competing for display October 7, 2022–January 22, 2023, in the 77th Rockford Midwestern Biennial at Rockford Art Museum; substitutions are not allowed.
The Juror for the 2022 Rockford Midwestern Biennial is Frank Juárez. Juárez is an award-winning art educator, artist, author, publisher, and former gallery director. Juárez brings two decades of art education and arts management experience organizing local and regional art exhibitions, community art events, and facilitating professional development workshops for artists. This has placed him at the forefront of promoting Wisconsin artists, networking, and attracting regional, national, and international artists to collaborate and exhibit in Wisconsin.
Frank Juárez is the art department chair at Sheboygan North High School, contributing editor of SchoolArts Magazine, and publisher of Artdose Magazine.
Artists who are current residents of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio or Wisconsin, and at least 18 years old are eligible to enter. Up to 3 original works of art executed by the applicant within the last two years are eligible; work created before 2020 will be disqualified for consideration by the juror. Types of work may include paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, photographs, or digital media. No dimension may exceed 96 inches (8 feet) and no weight may exceed 150 pounds.
How to Apply
Entries, images and payment must be submitted online no later than 11:59 PM, Monday, June 12. Applications will not be accepted without a non-refundable entry fee ($45). Applicants may submit up to 3 works and up to 6 digital images (1 image plus 1 detail image for each work). Files need to be labeled using the following format: Lastname_1.jpg, or Lastname_Detail_1.jpg. ALL FILES SHOULD BE UPLOADED AS A SINGLE ZIPPED FOLDER.
