The health and wellbeing of our youngest community members is extremely important to us. With the recent surge in Covid-19 cases, we have decided to cancel or postpone all in-person youth events for the months of January and February, 2022. Please check our social media accounts or online calendar for updates. We apologize for any inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding.
AGES 6-10: WEDNESDAYS | 10-11:30 AM
Register by February 3rd, 2022
Each semester, Rockford Art Museum hosts three local artists who share their love of art and knowledge of significant art movements with our homeschooling community. Our spring 2022 sessions will focus on the themes of nature and our environment.
SESSION I: POTTERY
FEB 9, 16, 23
Local ceramicist Sabrina Tassoni will guide students through the process of creating decorative and functional forms with clay, one of the most natural and ancient art materials. Students will use their hands, fingers, and simple tools to sculpt forms including a planter which will be used for growing real plants in a later session. Instruction will be geared towards each child’s ability level and there will be plenty of room for creativity and discovery.
SESSION II: Details TBA
MAR 9, 16, 23
SESSION III: RECYCLED ART
APR 13, 20, 27
Students will join local artist Stephanie Kruger for a series of fun and exciting recycled art projects. Turning objects that have been cast aside into creative treasures, students will create schools of fish and funky bugs out of egg cartons, paper towel rolls, and anything else we can find! Discussions about Mother Earth, sustainability, and how to protect the planet will inspire our creations.
