Winningham received his bachelor’s degree from Rice University in 1965, and master’s in photography from the Illinois Institute of Design in Chicago, where he studied with Aaron Siskind, Arthur Siegel and Harry Callahan. Since 1969 he has taught at his undergraduate alma mater in Houston. This print is likely the only negative, showcasing a distinctive style of black and white photography.
