This piece has found and treasured personal objects that construct a dreamlike view into the past; like memories, these images are soft. I composed the piece in layers, each having its own narrative. Cups is a pinhole, tintype image (shot with an 8 x 10-inch view camera converted to pinhole) that is gold-toned, then scanned and printed digitally with archival inks on washi, an ancient form of Japanese paper.—S.
