Shell Dream: The Unrest

Cherri Rittenhouse sold her first piece of art to Doc Slafkosky and Jerry Kortman when she was 18 years old. She then was the featured artist for their first show 25 years ago and served as curator fot the first four years of Kortman Gallery in downtown Rockford. Rittenhouse, whose paintings have been described as “expressionistic abstraction,” is well known in the local art scene. She is professor of art at Rock Valley College, where she has worked for 20 years.—Rockford Register Star, 2011
