Eleanor, Lake Michigan

Although he was not formally trained, Callahan developed many photographic innovations with multiple exposures and motion. His interests included realism, sharpness, and full-scale tonality, along with experimentations with abstraction and camera-made double exposures. In his work Callahan often included his wife, Eleanor, as a female symbol.
