ART BATTLE

PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER BY MAR 29
Local artists are invited to apply to participate in RAM’s first-ever Art Battle. Twelve artists can enter but only one will win a solo show in the RAM Art Annex! First round starts at 7 PM. DEADLINE TO APPLY MARCH 29 MIDNIGHT. Accepted artists will be notified no later than April 1.

Official Rules:

-       Art battle will begin with 12 competing artists. Artists will be chosen by a juried process.

-       Artists have 20 minutes to complete their paintings each round. The competition will consist of 3 rounds total.

-       Artists may use any water-based paint medium to create their work. No spray paint, glitter, or oils allowed.

-       Rockford Art Museum will provide canvases for the event sized 16x20 primed, an easel, and two stools.

-       Artists must supply their own paints, brushes, palette and palette knives.

-       No resource material or phones allowed during the Art Battle.

-       Artist may use any non-mechanical tools to create their pieces (rollers, sponges, brushes, palette knives, etc).

-       No stencils or premade objects allowed.

-       Artists may not start creating until the round officially starts.

-       There is no theme for the battle. Artists may create their own works.

-       All work created must be original.

-       The crowd will vote on the best 6 out of the first round to move on. They will also choose the top 3 out of the second round to move on to the finals.

-       The winner of art battle will receive a solo show in RAM’s art annex and a RAM Family Membership. Runners up will receive an individual RAM membership and prizes.

-       Pieces created during Art Battle will be available for auction to the audience during the show. Rockford Art Museum will retain 50% of the sales price of each work sold. Pieces will start at $30.

-       Works unsold at the event will remain at the Rockford Art Museum for up to 1 month. After this date it is the artists responsibility to pick up the work.

-       By participating in Rockford Art Museum’s Art Battle, you agree to let us use photographs of you and/or your work at the event for promotional purposes. No reproductions of your work will be sold.

-       It is free to participate in Art Battle.

THE ART OF YOGA

Taught by local yoga instructor Taunia May in the museum galleries, this new program is open to students of all skill levels. Following each hourlong yoga session will be a free tasting from a local vendor, including Bucha Bar (kombucha) in February and March. Bring your own mat.
