The 70th Greenwich Village Art Fair (GVAF) takes place Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16—rain or shine—on the grounds of Rockford Art Museum (RAM) at Riverfront Museum Park, 711 N. Main St., in downtown Rockford, Illinois. The annual two-day outdoor event features 115 juried artists, live music by local musicians, an artisan marketplace, children's art activities, and more. Established in 1948, Greenwich is the longest running art fair of its kind in the Midwest. Presenting sponsor is Midland States Bank; premier sponsors are the Dean Alan Olson Foundation and Joan Stonecipher.  

Gates are open 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Sunday. Admission at the gate is $7 for adults, free for children 12 and younger. Advance tickets are $5 and are available at any Midland States Bank location and at the Rockford Art Museum Store. Ticket proceeds help support RAM programs throughout the year.

Rockford Art Museum (RAM) opens the Rockford Midwestern Biennial exhibition on Friday, June 8, with a preview reception for museum members and exhibiting artists from 5 to 7:30 p.m. that includes a gallery walk with 2018 Juror Aron Packer and an artist awards ceremony, followed by a free public opening until 8:30 p.m. at RAM, 711 N. Main St., Rockford. The exhibition remains on view through September 30. 

Rockford Art Museum (RAM) opens its 77th Young Artist Show: Youth Division with a free public opening and awards ceremony 1–3 p.m., Sunday, April 8. On view are 400 paintings, drawings, sculptures, mixed media, and more by K–8 students at 65 schools in Winnebago County. Sponsored by Alpine Kiwanis and Women’s Art Board, the exhibition remains on view through May 6 at RAM, located inside Riverfront Museum Park at 711 North Main Street in downtown Rockford.

Rockford Art Museum’s new POP-UP RESTAURANT SERIES highlights top local restaurant chefs in an unexpected, off-the-grid setting.Each POP-UP RESTAURANT AT RAM—ABREO (February 28), GREENFIRE (March 28), ALCHEMY (April 25), and TONI’S OF WINNEBAGO (May 23)will have a set time for seating in the galleries and will showcase an innovative, multiple course prix-fixe menu alongside the museum’s current feature exhibition, and will include a lively “Did You Know?” conversation about food and art with RAM Curator Carrie Johnson.

Rockford Art Museum (RAM) opens new feature exhibition The Laura and John Fraser Collection on Friday, Feb. 9, with a preview reception for museum members from 5 to 7 p.m. that includes a gallery walk with the Frasers, followed by a free public opening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at RAM, 711 N. Main St., Rockford. The exhibition remains on view through May 28.

The Laura and John Fraser Collection surveys one of the most recent major gifts to the Rockford Art Museum Permanent Collection in its entirety. The Fraser Collection is a stellar compilation of 122 contemporary paintings, prints, drawings, mixed media, sculptures, and ephemera by an international roster of 57 artists, including several local and regional artists.

Rockford Art Museum is proud to announce that it has received a $3,500 grant from the Community Grants Program of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois with support from the Community Arts & Humanities Fund for The Laura and John Fraser Collection

Rockford Artisan Market at Rockford Art Museum features more than 20 local artists and artisans with their assemblage art, block printing, ceramics, illustrations, jewelry and accessories, photography, paintings, and more, on Saturday, January 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 711 North Main Street in downtown Rockford. The $7 event admission includes free admission at RAM plus a 10% discount on museum memberships purchased that day. Admission proceeds support Rockford Art Museum.
