GUIDED TOUR

Get the most out of your visit to the museum with a Guided Tour led by a RAM Docent. Tours are tailored to meet the needs of each group. Advanced booking is required. Schedule early, as tour spots fill quickly.

One docent (tour guide) is assigned per 25 participants
One adult chaperone is recommended per 10 students (grades K–8)

SELF-GUIDED TOUR

Teachers or group leaders are welcome to escort groups of children or adults through the museum galleries. Self-guided groups may schedule visits during museum gallery hours and must yield to guided tours in the galleries.

FIELD TRIPS

Artist-in-Residence Field Trip
The RAM Artist-in-Residence program gives groups visiting the museum the opportunity to work with an artist that specializes in work related to each feature exhibition. Used by students of all ages and groups of all sizes, this popular program includes a guided tour immediately followed by a hands-on activity led by the current Artist in Residence. Terrific Tuesday Field Trip

On a Terrific Tuesday field trip, your students will participate in themed classes presented by Discovery Center Museum, Rockford Art Museum and Rockford Dance Company. This diverse, immersive educational experience expressively engages bodies and minds with science and art. Theme chosen by the teacher at registration.

Length: 2-1/2 hours Time: 9:30 am–12 pm Cost: $9 per student, FREE for chaperones/teachers  ISBE goals: 4A, 11A, 12A, 12E 13A, 19AB, 25AB, 26AB, 27AB

Terrific Tuesday themes

Body Works (grades K–6) Science, art, and movement get under your skin as we uncover symmetry, explore how our insides have been organized fashion graceful stylish motions from teams of muscle and bones.

Light and Shadow (grades K–6) Movement, art and science converge in areas bright and dark as we break apart light, use painting techniques to explore shade of color, create a shadow dance, and jump, step, and turn to articulate the qualities of light and shadow.

Mixin' It Up (grades K–6) From chemistry to colors to moves, we're mixing things together with outstanding results.

SCOUT WORKSHOPS

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts Rockford Art Museum offers several themed workshops for scouts to earn visual art badges and arts-related badges. Each workshop is customized to meet your troop’s needs, and most include tours and activities classes. Custom outreach workshops also available, call for pricing.

$10 per scout, includes materials and instruction.
